With booth sales at local businesses beginning this Friday, March 5, excitement around all types of Girl Scout cookies is building. Mixed with that excitement however is news from other parts of the country that Little Brownie Bakers is taking back some boxes of Lemon Chalet Crème cookies because of an off smell and taste.

None of the cookies affected were sold by the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore.

"Lemon Chalet Crème cookies sold here are safe to eat. There is no quality issue with any of the cookies we received," said Susan H. McClure, chief executive officer, Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore. "When members of the community begin opening their Girl Scout Cookie boxes this week, they can do so knowing the cookies in each box taste exactly the way they remember from years past."
